Technical Designer and Pattern Maker
As a technical designer and pattern maker, your responsibilities will include working with the design team on product development, sourcing and manufacturing processes.
- Develop and correct first through production patterns
- Generate accurate specifications and production packages for individual garments
- Manage first sample production and quality to meet short-term critical deadlines
- Maintain quality standards throughout fit and pattern analysis and develop appropriate construction methods
- Communicate and follow-up with vendors, mills and business partners as needed to meet product development and production deadlines
- Monitor, track and manage critical product development calendar milestones
- Manage additional projects as assigned
Successful candidates should have the
following knowledge, skills and abilities:
- A bachelor's degree in Apparel Design (focusing on the technical design aspect) or related area
- At least 5+ years experience with OptiTex, Gerber or Lectra Systems in pattern design, grading and marker-making
- Must have ability to quickly make corrections & release packages for samples and production
- Must have understanding of construction in all fabrications, fit and size ranges (knowledge of knits, swimwear or intimate apparel a plus)
- Ability to sew and work on detailed garments
- Strong communication, organization and computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
- Graphic design skills including Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop a plus
- Excellent dependability, follow through, and a detailed focus on accuracy of work
- Ability to proactively identify, analyze and solve problems
- Flexible to changing demands with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently and on a team in a fast-paced business environment
